THE GREAT C3 BYAKUREN! What a time it's been, from waiting for her arrival as one of the four surprises in terms of C3 characters in Chapter 4 Act 3 EX 6 alongside Joon, Komachi and Kasen and as I had hoped, I was successful enough to get Byakuren who was always my priority of those four! So about Byakuren variant number 4, I will try my best to put my bias in favour of her aside...well let's have a look shall we?

Well obviously I think Byakuren Hijiri is very stunning...actually, I KNOW she is Stunning because both her Spell Card 2 and Last Word enjoy that guaranteed 100% Stun on all enemies (3P for SC2, 2P for LW). It feels like they upped the ante when it came to stunning compared to the C5＞ duo, but I am here for it! C3 Byakuren also has a 45% Boost in effective elemental damage (if enemies are weak to Star, C3 Byakuren will have a fun time, now where is Star Weakness inflict?) I would also like that she has some high Hard Scaling (up to 200% on LW) alongside 2 stages of Yang DEF II so I'd like to think that would help her a bit. She also comes with decent Yang ATK buffs whether it's for herself when Boosting or via her Spell Card Pre-ATKs for the team, and there are bits of CRIT ATK, CRIT Accuracy, Barriers and even some team Spirit Power buffs, so yeah, I'd imagine those can come in handy from time to time.

I briefly mentioned the Star element above, but in terms of breaking, that will most likely be C3 Byakuren best source of it, although maybe she can get some mileage from the Poison anomaly breaking. That said, it won't be the most exciting Poison anomaly inflicting/breaking in the world, although passable as Skill 2 inflicts 3 Layers of it on all enemies and both Spell Card 2 and Last Word inflict them on all enemies, being broken via Solo Focus Shot (2P), Solo Spell Card 1 (3P), All-Targeting Spell Card 2 (2P) and All-Targeting Last Word (3P). As for the elemental side, there are glimpses of Sun and Water elements in C3 Byakuren's kit, but really it's Star that is, well, the 'Star' of the elemental show with how frequently it appears in her kit! It's not an elemental mess, but it's hard to rely on the other 2 elements should it come to that.

I suppose it's that time for some downsides...surprise surprise, another Epic DEST Friend with no Accuracy! I'm kinda sad about that actually, because it keeps happening, even to non-Epic ones too. Something I've also unfortunately noticed is a trend where Destroyers like C3 Byakuren, C5＞ Flandre/Koishi and more recent ones that came this year only have 1 very high CRIT Accuracy line instead of 3 (50% bare CRIT Accuracy) and C3 Byakuren fall into this trap too. I guess she is sort of saved by recent content relying on God Killer since that is one of the many Killers she has to work with, but eh. I think if this was earlier on in the year, I'd be more...CRITical (ba-dum-tss) of her Killers, which are still not the best in the world, but yeah, it is what it is. Funnily enough, she is also a C3 unit without Swimsuit Killer! While I did mention CRIT Accuracy earlier, she isn't the best in the world at providing it either, even when taking into account her debuffs via CRIT Evasion and CRIT DEF that slightly appear, and should enemies not be weak to Star, that reliance on the 45% boost in effective elements could end up revealing itself.


But yeah, I'm probably still very biased in favour of C3 Byakuren Hijiri overall, because I have always loved this version of her from Day 1 of her reveal on JP, and I am still ecstatic about having her in the first place, even though she probably isn't quite going to be the best, even in terms of Destroyers alone (C3 Yuyuko and LM1 Maribel/Mima are still probably top 2?). As I would say in the video, I did also want to try out C3 Byakuren on the Chapter 4 Act 2 Stage against Dragon Marisa, but want to stress that this is NOT A FARM, ONLY A CLEAR. Besides, it's probably for the better not to spend 13 turns on that stage...especially when the Perfect and Elegant L80 Sakuya Izayoi exists! Side note, I wish I could put more awesome Byakuren theme arranges in, but I think the Yuuhei Satellite theme here works well!
