A curious duet for Renko Usami & Maribel Hearn. ...It's not exactly what Schrodinger was trying to prove, but the concept at hand is that "reality lies in the observation." If a cat is locked in a box with an equal chance of living or dying, then you can say it is neither alive nor dead -- or, both alive and dead -- until you open the box and find out.

Then, how about bakeneko (youkai cats)? Youkai can't exist at all without a human mind to observe them. Please save Chen and her fellow youkai by acknowledging their life. After all, it may be only a matter of time before one of the human observers becomes the observed... This message has been brought to you by Maidens for the Ethical Treatment of Apparitions.

The role of Renko forever belongs to my lovely partner Lori-hime ( http://lori-hime.tumblr.com ). Check out our other Hifuu duets here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJFiAJtX1FTHn3dYKclszmw0qXO54dvE8

(My lost kitten... are you far from home? Have you reached the end of your line?
My, perhaps it isn't just a matter of distance... no, it's a matter of time.)

So I saw a little cat on my way by the shrine gate:
A lucky glimpse of black, which I could not ignore.
With a round face, a bowtie... and how many tails?
Surely two, like the stories from bakeneko lore.

No others seemed to sense it; its presence was subtle.
It passed right through the columns like nothing was there.
But, without a control, an experiment fails...
Soon, a gap opened up and it vanished to the air.

(Here, there is a world yet only seen by the physicists and the magicians.)
(A world of flawless truth, of boundless scope, of pure intuitions.)
(And here, there is a world yet only seen by the physicists and the magicians.)
(We are the observers now, but what would it take to switch our positions?)

Schrodinger, Schrodinger, what would you say?
Spirits may live, just as long as we observe.
Our world would choose yet to seal them away.
How could this be anything a kitten could deserve?

Schrodinger, Schrodinger, what would you think?
Our fantastic specimens are heavily in strife.
Ignorance killed them, betrayed their instinct.
It's our curiosity that brings them all to life.

I saw a funny thing floating out on the river:
A tattered piece of cloth, all washed up by the rain.
Its dye in the water was trailing behind,
Where the once-striking pattern looked only like a stain.

The sights you see beyond are the remnants of something;
The prints they leave behind, ever hard to discern.
If the cat was the dye... if I touched it, would I...?
Let's be careful with wet paint, 'cause soon we're gonna learn.

So deep behind the curtains and into the shadows
Are hundreds that we've heard of, and myriads more.
For the tales of the old are the fears of the young,
As our fear pulls us forward, we venture to explore.

The key that holds the truth is the eye that observes it,
That chooses one of two truths to be reconciled.
So we won't close our eyes, and she won't have our tongue.
Let her out of the bag now, and back into the wild.

(My lost kitten... are you far from home? Have you reached the end of your line?
My, perhaps it isn't just a matter of distance... no, it's a matter of time.)
