Toxic Crusaders on NES - Horror Retrogaming - Nintendo Gameplay with Commentary
This week's Horror Retrogaming video is The Toxic Crusaders on NES! The Toxic Avenger just celebrated its 30th anniversary, so I decided to play a video game adaptation of the of the R-Rated Troma movie. Yes, in the 1980's, every R-Rated movie had a kid friendly cartoon version that was as toyetic as possible for everybody's favorite M word: The Merchandising. The original Toxic Avenger was a raunchy superhero horror movie, geared solely at adults, and has become a cult classic and the flagship of the Troma Studios franchise. Let's all watch Tromaville, NJ's greatest superhero in one of the worst Nintendo games of all time.
Every Thursday, I put out a video in my Horror Retrogaming Series. In this series, I'm trying to illustrate how horror has been presented and evolved in gaming these past few decades. I will trace this evolution by playing adaptations of horror movies and books, early survival horror games, and any horror retro games that tried to actually be scary. I'm a huge horror fan, and this series is the flagship of my channel.
I played a copy of this game on an Emulator with an NES Rom and captured the footage with Xsplit.
