I'll be honest. The first few chapters of Trails in the Sky SC did not interest me as much as I thought they would. The opening was thrilling, but it got slightly repetitive at the very beginning. HOWEVER, as the game progressed I remember the later chapters stood out. They were truly something special. I remember saying to a friend 'chapter X' (I won't mention the particular chapters number) is one of the best sections of a video game I have ever played. To this day, I consider Trails in the Sky SC among the best video games I have ever played, despite the slightly tedious beginning. I wouldn't say the music in SC is an 'improvement' from the first as that is probably the wrong word. SC has quite a different and darker tone to the FC (First Chapter) and the music clearly shows that, particularly Silver Will. I tried to end Obstructive Existence on a slightly darker tone to convey that.
Creating this piece proved to be way more difficult than usual. Mainly because I switched laptops recently and had to get used to new music software which was by no means easy! Nevertheless, now that I have managed to make a composition using new software, hopefully this paves way for more and more compositions, arrangements and original music in the future!
For anyone who has played the game, you will probably recognise sections of the piece of music 'Silver Will' towards the end. I was keen to include some trace of Silver Will as it is easily one of my favourite pieces of music. Hoping to recreate it in the future.
