A new Regional Training Centre for Afghan National Army recruits has opened in Helmand. It is the first British led part of the NATO Training Mission and today, eight hundred and fifty recruits attended a ceremony to swear an oath of allegiance to their country. Helmand is the last Province in Afghanistan to open a Regional Military Training Centre. They come from all over Afghanistan, and include Hazara, Uzbeks, and the Pashtuns who are local to the south of the country. Before this centre opened, they would have been trained many miles away in Kabul.
