More than a thousand people have attended the funeral of the first British female bomb disposal expert to be killed in action. Captain Lisa Head of 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Regiment was fatally injured in Nahr-e-Saraj in April. The 29 year-old of the Royal Logistic Corps had been in Afghanistan less than a month when she was seriously injured by an IED. She was flown home and treated in hospital in Birmingham but later died from her injuries.
