A very good morning spent at South Hampstead station on the West Coast Mainline and London to Watford D.C. line where we see plenty of services from Virgin Trains, London Northwestern Railway, London Overground and Chiltern Railways.

There isn't actually much to say about South Hampstead. It's a small station built in 1879 and was originally named as Loudon Road Station and it kept that name right up to 1922. Originally the station had 4 platforms which you can still see the foundation's of today. Now only 2 platforms remain, this was because of the West Coast Mainline modernisation where the line was getting electrified. The original London Northwestern Railway building was demolished and instead replaced by a bridge station kind of affect with a completely new footbridge. You can still see traces of the original footbridge and station canopies because of the brickwork that is shown on the retaining walls on either side of the line.

My next station is going to be East Croydon.
