A very poor afternoon session spent at Witham on the Great Eastern Mainline where we solely see services from Greater Anglia, sadly no freight was running during my time on the line.

There isn't to much to tell about Witham, the station itself is a junction station as the line to Braintree branches off to the east of the station and had a fairly frequent service. The station was opened by the Eastern Counties Railway in 1843, on the very same day that the company opened the stretch of line from Brentwood to Colchester. Although it wasn't until 5 years later that the station became a junction when the line to Braintree was completed. Obviously over the years the station has gone through several changes of modernisation but fundamentally its not really changed all that much.
