In 1983, the Nintendo Company would release their Family Computer system known as the Famicom in Japan. Two years later, in 1985, the system would be released in the U.S. as the Nintendo Entertainment System and would soon gain worldwide recognition. This little 8-bit third-generation video game system would help revitalize the struggling industry and medium of video games. Boasting a library of over 700 official titles and dozens of unlicensed and unofficial games over its nearly 20-year lifespan, in this series we look to try as many of these games as possible, bring more attention to these title and celebrating the system that inspired and entertained so many over the years.

The Addams Family is a 1992 action game of the platforming variety inspired by the 1991 film of the same name, which was in turn inspired by the 1930’s – 1980’s comic strips of the same name by Charles Addams and the adaptation of those comics by the 1960’s TV series. It was published and developed by Ocean Software for the NES, but would also be released across multiple platforms such as the SNES and Sega Genesis.

Transformers: Mystery of Convoy, or as it is known in Japan, Tatakae! Chō Robot Seimei Tai Transformer Convoy no Nazo, is a 1986 action game that was only released in Japan. It was developed by ISCO and Published by Takara; the creators of the Diaclone toy line that would serve as the inspiration for the Transformers. Thanks to the fine people at Stardust Crusaders the game can now be enjoyed in English.
