Treasure Gets EXPERIMENTAL! Silhouette Mirage Review (Sega Saturn)
Treasure Gets EXPERIMENTAL! Silhouette Mirage Review (Sega Saturn). Today, I am talking about one of Treasure's most experimental and ambitious games, Silhouette Mirage! A deep cut and hidden gem if I ever saw one. Describing Mirage is very tricky, but it seems to be an interesting hybrid of Sonic style platformer, Run and Gun, beat em' up, and RPG. What is particularly interesting about this game for shoot em' up (shmup) players, is the fact that it introduces the polarity system that Ikaruga would later make famous and a weapon leveling system that Radiant Silvergun would later improve upon! This review is a bit more critical then I initially expected, but it comes from a place of love and recognition towards the creative and unique spirit that Treasure always delivers! Also I focus mainly on the Saturn version instead of the PS1 version, but that does seem like an interesting alternative to look at. And the OST is awesome :-)
