1"Why is this video sideways?" TL;DR, resolution scaling didn't work unless I ran it like this.
Well, I had tried getting appropriate settings to get this game looking good but to no avail. Increasing the resolution seemed to have little effect and the game looked largely ps2 res. Besides trying various pcsx2 settings, I noticed that changing the games rotation brought about the look of the game as the res I was running it in, 8K. I also just have a monitor that rotates 90* so that worked out as well.
