Originating from a concept by one of the movie's leads, Tiger Chen, Triple Threat was positioned as an Asian take on The Expendables, and brought together Man of Tai Chi's Chen, Ong Bak's Tony Jaa, and Iko Uwais of The Raid movies, along with Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, Jeeja Yanin, MMA champ Michael Bisping, and Ron Smoorenburg.
