True Swing Golf, known as Nintendo Touch Golf in Europe and Adults' DS Golf (大人のDSゴルフ) in Japan, was one of a tiny handful of golf games ever released for the Nintendo DS. It was also one of the first games from the new incarnation of T&E Soft, a development group that was established in 2006 after Digital Golf Co. Ltd. took ownership of Deep Co. Ltd., the company that had acquired the rights to the T&E Soft name in 2005.

So, while it wasn't made by the same folks who gave the world Hydlide (   • Hydlide (NES) Playthrough - NintendoC...  ), Pebble Beach Golf Links (   • Pebble Beach Golf Links (Saturn) Play...  ), and Red Alarm (   • Red Alarm (Virtual Boy) 2D Playthroug...  ), it is a very good golf game. It looks and feels like 90s T&E Soft's 3D games - especially Waialae for the N64 (   • Waialae Country Club: True Golf Class...  ) - with a more modern design.

The game features fifteen courses that are unlocked by playing through three championships, each hosting its own set of tournaments. As you rise through the ranks, you earn money for better equipment and fun cosmetic items, and you can win special equipment from beating rivals in matches.

What really sets True Swing Golf apart, though, is its touchscreen-based control scheme. To fire of a shot, you touch the stylus to the screen to draw back the club head and flick it at the ball to make contact, and the direction and speed of the flick determines the shot's power and trajectory. It's an intuitive, nuanced, and engaging replacement for the traditional three-click power bar system, and it gives the game an arcade-style feel without sacrificing any depth.

It was one of my most played DS games back when it was new, and twenty years later, the gameplay still feels fresh, and it's still a lot of fun. Even if you don't usually go for golf games, I'd recommend giving True Swing Golf a shot.
