This is the third instalment of a series of trying new games every week, generally indie / smaller games.

I saw Hue in the Steam store and though it looked like a clever concept so I picked it up, ratings seemed good too which is always a bonus. As is usual with my Tuesday games, I didn't really know much about the game really and didn't want to read up so as not to spoil it.
Having played it for a while on stream I've now seen that it's a very clever game with how it utilises colour manipulation to show/hide parts of the environment. On the face of it, it's a simple platformer but when you add the background colour changing it puts a new spin on the genre. The simple art style is great and the intractability with the environment (chains, water, etc.) is smooth and very nice, showing it's not static imagery.
I found it to be rewarding and fun but also frustrating at times due to the colour changing concept, trying to change colour mid jump to avoid dying and accidentally picking the wrong colour resulting in Hue dying wasn't too fun.
Overall though, it's a good fun game and I'd recommend picking it up if you're a fan of platformer games.

Something to note is that it recommends using a pad and that seems to be ideal for it too, I'm not sure it'd be all that nice to control with a keyboard and mouse.


Next week we'll have a different game being tested out. If the game goes well it'll also be a 2 hour stream but there is potential for any title to not be fun to play or maybe to watch. We'll see how it goes though and I think this is a series I'd like to continue doing, showing other people new games while I experience them.
