Tunic 2 (Is a sequel happening?)
19When speaking with IGN’s Podcast Unlocked, Tunic creator Andrew Shoudlice was asked about what game he would be working on after Tunic with hopes that it would be a sequel to the fantastic and well received fox adventure.
His answer was “entirely alone or making something that is not a personal project where the design aspect is distributed from the very start”
Shouldice then followed up that statement by saying “Two-nic, it’s right there in the name” playfully, but its clear how much Tunic means to him, as he dedicated a large portion of his life to making his dream a reality and it would be shocking if so much world building and design was created just to step away from it.
As the team slowly grew over the seven years of development, it’s very possible that with the funding from exclusivity deals, the team could slightly expand more to cut the development time down from seven years to something more hopeful for gamers like 2 or 3 years.
The most likely answer for what will be next for the team will be porting it to other systems. Just like Ori and the Blind Forest and Cuphead were once Xbox exclusives, it seems like only a matter of time before Tunic is on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. When trying to figure out how long it will take to come to other systems, you can look at the history of some notable exclusive indie titles.
It took Cuphead about 19 months before it reached the Nintendo Switch, It took Ori almost four and a half years, and on the shorter end it took Hades 11 months from the time it was released on the Switch until it hit PlayStation and Xbox. If you are waiting, it looks to be at least a year to be safe.
