This is a little guide I wanted to do for those curious about setting up Doom like this. This will make your game look (and to an extent play) like Crispy Doom! There are a few subtle differences, but this is probably as good as it can get with GZDoom's current settings for now. And YES! This does work with the other Doom engine games (Hexen, Heretic, Strife, etc.) that GZDoom supports, and should be compatible with most mods, really.

Apologies for the title screen not showing up when I started the game. OBS is silly, so I guess it makes those few seconds of the video invalid. Oh well, at least you can see the texture filtered stuff in the beginning of the level!

For further tweaks to the fuzz effect of the spectres and partial invisibility, you can go to the Hardware Rendering again and change the Fuzz style to 'Software.'
If you want to play with the original 35 FPS of Doom, you can also turn Rendering Interpolation off. I didn't demonstrate this in the video because I was going for more of a Crispy Doom look. You can also try turning off Interpolate Monster Behavior too, just in case. I forgot to mention this because honestly, I didn't even want to THINK about going back to a low framerate. My 144hz monitor has spoiled me that badly.

You also CAN use anisotropic filtering. Its impact on the looks isn't too drastic, but it's technically there.

I am fully aware of the Vanilla Essence mod, but I wanted to show you how to do it the hard way, and get the Crispy look with the Hardware Accelerated video mode of GZDoom. If you weren't aware of this mod, and wanted to skip all these intricate setting tweaks, you can download Vanilla Essence here:
