2025 marked my triumphant return to MAGFest. I was excited to play in the halls, but I also didn't want to take my mask off after everything we've experienced in the last five years. Thankfully, the problem of "how to woodwind with no mouth" was solved by some enterprising Hittites roughly 3000 years ago, and so I went, EWI bagpipe under arm.

I had been rehearsing pretty aggressively in the months leading up to this, recording myself to hear the progress I had made by mid January. The next week, I held a dress rehearsal of sorts in the DX Complex discord and Naomi was very kind to capture the entire show (as well as fantastic performances from herself, The Ivory Heart, and The Only Epic Man). What you're hearing now is a composite of both of those recordings, with a little chipcrusher on top to give it that crusty bootleg sound the kids crave. If you've ever wondered what it's like to have the incredible misfortune of hearing me live, now you know!

"Twilight" written by Jeff Lynne and originally performed by the Electric Light Orchestra.
