Two OBS issues with Intel Arc B580 to know about as a content creator
Hi, as you can see I'm a small hobbyist content creator who has bought the new intel GPU.
I ran into 2 somewhat significant problems with the GPU while using it with OBS.
The first problem is recording through CPU (!). Yes, that might sound strange, but once I record through x264 CPU encoding at 1440p resolution, I get half in-game fps, which is absolutely unacceptable. If I record the same way but at 1080p everything is fine. This issue wasn't present when I had my previous GPU.
The second problem is how easily the GPU encoding can get overloaded. When you record your gameplay through Quicksync AV1 at 1440p60fps, whenever the game you play runs into 40-60fps range, expect heavy overload of the encoding which results in stuttery capture (you don't see any stuttering in gameplay, but the recording has heavy stuttering). At around 30fps in-game the recording is absolutely unwatchable and has about 1-2fps.
To sum up, be aware of these issues if you plan to buy the card for content creation like youtube gameplays or streaming. If you stick to 1080p CPU/GPU encoding you should be good, but there are issues at 1440p.
