Typewriter Correction Methods: Pt1 Self Correcting
I wanted to answer how typewriters could correct mistake by demonstrating every possible method.
In pt1 here I've taken a look at several different typewriters that encompass the four main types of typewriters that were made:
Word Processing: Brother EP-20
Electronic: IBM Personal Wheelwriter II
Electric: IBM Correcting Selectric II
Manual: Smith Corona Galaxie Deluxe
At all stages of type writer usage there were new methods of correcting being added. It was a significant development for them to reach the stage of having "self" correction built in. Before these options existed you needed to have some kind of other correcting method on hand, something we will explore in pt2 of this series.
