UBISOFT MAY HAVE CANCELED THE SEQUEL TO STAR WARS OUTLAWS
42Ubisoft has reportedly canceled the Star Wars Outlaws sequel while it was in the very early stages of pre-production, following the lower-than-expected commercial performance of the original installment.
According to the rumor, the studio canceled the sequel before it had even entered full production. The decision was reportedly made due to poor sales, coupled with the uncertain state of the Star Wars franchise at the time.
Ubisoft and its CEO Yves Guillemot have publicly stated that the game's poor performance was linked to a period of "turbulent waters" for the franchise, although technical glitches, repetitive design, and a lack of innovation were also criticized.
