In response to the two players suing Ubisoft for delisting The Crew and removing the servers, Ubisoft responded by saying some of the most detestable statements in the gaming industry.

"Consumers were explicitly notified, at the time of purchase, that they were purchasing a license." No, they were not explicitly notified at the time of purchase because people aren't aware of the ownership of games as well as they are right now. Just because you give them a long terms and condition that most people are going to skip and say agree on doesn't mean that they were "explicitly notified." That is some legal nonsense that will definitely be under scrutiny in court.

Keep in mind that Steam is warning customers that they're buying a license for a game and not the game itself since October 2024. We've known this for a while, and I'm just glad that gamers are notified about it, but at the time of the release of The Crew 1, this is not something that gamers are familiar with.

We'll have to see how the lawsuit goes, but I just find it utterly disgusting that people are paying full price for games that they might lose access to in the future. This happened with The Crew 1. This happened with Overwatch 1. This happened with Spec Ops The Line, and I have no doubts that this will happen in future games too.

FYI, pirating games let you actually own the games and install them as many times as you like. Just saying.
