Media SHAPES Our Attitudes!
Video games are fiction. They're not going to turn you into real-life murderers or criminals. These moral guardians disagree with that notion.
"It's well-documented that the media we consume shapes our attitudes." No, reality shapes our attitudes. There are many entertainment media that is all about positivity and are even friendly for children, and yet, they are populated with some of the most toxic people in the whole planet.
"Just ask the multi-billion-dollar advertising industry!" Advertisements are not fiction. They promote real goods and services. They may use fictional characters to promote and influence them, but they are still advertising real products that real people use. This comparison is absolutely nonsensical.
Then they claimed that strangulation has become a staple act in mainstream adult videos and that adult videos make the act of choking erotic. That is straight up wrong. The act of erotic choking has existed way before mainstream adult videos, and to form a conclusion like this very openly and confidently is just plain ignorant.
"Porn is a form of media that influences how people behave in their real-world sexual encounters." Now, I do believe this claim, and there are studies that back up this claim, but most of the violent or extreme 18+ content you see online are either role-played or totally fictional and drawn.
Most people that consume adult content know that what they're consuming is totally fictional, and that game that you're getting up and arms about, it's just an all-around average adult media that isn't really anything special, and because you're making it special, people are going to go to find the game, play through the whole thing, and they'll be disappointed at how not special it is. I wouldn't have played this game if it weren't for you people getting outraged about it. Just saying.
