I'm still not happy with this result but it's a step in the right direction. I still feel as though there must be a better way to more cleanly display this concept...
I originally tried to display the bombs as rectangles, but bombs overlapping on the same height were messy that way, so I tried this trapezoid shape instead. The right face of the trapezoid represents the bomb detonation but also it's vertical range. Hitting the top of this = hitting the top of the bomb. The middle = the middle of the bomb, etc.
