[UE4] UE4's Unexposed Material Functions Showcase 2
Be sure to check out my UE4 marketplace for awesome vfx packs! https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/profile/Luos Timestamps below!
in the engine folder there are a lot of hidden material function gems and I intend to browse trough them to see what they do/if they work/find out if they are useful.
This time around there where a lot more functions I had zero understanding of and since they tend to be poorly documented I might need to ask some epic devs on how to use them.
0:10 - Intro/How to find the mat functions
2:00 - 4wayChaos/4waychaos_normal (simple cool water effect)
3:20 - CloudRimlight (interesting rimlight effect)
5:30 - Step (fade in/fade out?)
6:15 - PythagoreanTheorum (in case you dont have an advanced calculator?)
7:24 - Radial Gradient (I always used this, never knew it wasnt exposed)
7:59 - FakeLight (simple setup to fake a light angle)
9:24 - RandomUV (random uv per particle)
11:23 - Flipbook_UniformNonUniform (couldnt set it up, for rendering non-uniform flipbooks uniformly)
12:17 - RotateNormalWhileMasking (Not sure, seems to bend normal maps on angles and lips around masks?)
13:03 - ReflectionVectorSoft (softens out reflections by smoothing normals?)
15:06 - TilingAAGrid (creates b/w grids, could be used for grates/holorooms, etc?)
16:00 - Posterize (Like the photoshop posterize filter)
17:52 - Henyey-Greenstein-Phase (Neat anistropy effect)
