Ultima VI: The False Prophet on MS-DOS with @circuitstatic
I show my ancient save game from when I was a kid, when I quickly learned to exploit a bug with calculating encumbrance whilst browsing the contents of a container in your inventory. I demonstrate this exploit, where we can have the Avatar literally carrying several times the allowed weight without any consequences except taking a bit longer to pick things up once you are over your natural limit.
I also switch from Adlib sound to Roland / MIDI sound as it was much quieter (and for some reason I could not adjust the DOSBox volume independently in my mixer), however this was not the sound I was used to hearing.
I then start a fresh game to demonstrate the unique character creation process, which involves you answering virtue questions which results in this woman mixing different colored potions into your drink (these affect your stats), and when you're done you drink it and pass out and wake up in another realm, about to be sacrificed, and then are thrust into some gargoyle combat as you escape to Lord British's throne room. You are then basically given access to a huge open world game to explore with a cloth map marked in Runic. It was really engaging to explore as a kid, especially since you can steal from and / or kill whoever and it matters if anyone else was nearby, had line of sight on you or was able to hear the person yell, and even if the person had a *chance* to yell. You could hide in shops and wait until the shopkeeper left for the night and then rob the place blind. You could hack your way into locked chests and wooden doors, you can pick locks, you can steal a boat and shove it into your backpack, then have your entire party go aboard and sail off to sea, you can befriend a mouse and gain access to mouse holes which contain additional items... this game was amazing. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/chrisprimeish
