CLASSIC SUB-ZERO PLAYTHROUGH
Classic Sub-Zero (also known as Klassic Sub-Zero or Elder Sub-Zero) is the Sub-Zero that appeared in Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat II. In the Super NES and Sega Genesis version, he is a regular playable character. Beside the Ice Blast move, he plays differently from the Regular Sub-Zero. Since he was previously a hidden character, he has one Fatality, a Brutality, a Babality and a Stage Fatality.
Classic Sub-Zero is a simple character to use. He can use his Ice Blast, his Ground Freeze to make his opponent slide, and the Slide. While the Ice Move is a great combo starter, the Slide is best used as a combo ender. He also has two combo, one kick based that sand the opponent far away, and one punch based that cause a launch, for more combo possibility.
Against the CPU, Classic Sub-Zero is powerful but has limited option. His only viable way to quickly defeat the CPU is to start his launch combo with a jump kick, a jump punch or an Ice Blast and finish it with a slide before repeating the pattern. Like the regular combo, repeatedly doing low punch to push your opponent and freeze him right after is another viable way.
As a side note, Classic Sub-Zero’s Fatality 1 is his head rip fatality he had in MK1. However, in UMK3, it is censored (everything its pitch black, only sound effect are heard). Presumably, it is because of time constraint and new animation required for each character in the cast, but this has never been confirmed.
