AMD Athlon II 740 is a 3.2GHz Quad core processor with an FM2 based socket. The Athlon processors are budget range as they lack an onboard ATI graphics card. Whereas the A-Series Trinity APUs have a small onboard ATI graphics card inside the CPU.

Its rated at 65W, however I believe this figure maybe lower as its the same power figure given to the APUs with onboard graphics.

Its a good budget CPU to go for if you would rather have an NVidia graphics card in your rig.

Im using it in my new ASUS F2A85-V Pro FM2 motherboard, and its part of my combined NAS / Media Centre PC.
I purchased it from Amazon for £57

Spec:

Turbo Frequency: 3.7GHz
