Uncharted Movie Review - It's A Lame Cosplay
#Uncharted #MovieReview
Uncharted is one of Sony's best Playstation properties. Right up there with God of War, Horizon and The Last of Us. So fans of the series were very hesitant when an Uncharted movie was announced over a decade ago. It eventually became a running gag that it would never get made. The script exchanged hands many times, multiple actors were penned to play as Nathan Drake and Sony has a pretty horrible track record when it comes to their movies. So when Tom Holland eventually got the lead and Mark Wahlberg was reduced to supporting actor (Sully), most fans were very worried. We had good reason to be. The final product barely represents the game franchise. Tom Holland doesn't remotely look, sound or act like Nathan Drake and doesn't pick up a gun until the final act of the movie (for about 5 seconds). If you can separate yourself from the video games, then you might get more enjoyment out of this. There are some cool set pieces and thankfully the film is short so the pacing is consistent. The problem is that it's titled Uncharted. That brand means something. The games have a very high benchmark in terms of quality so having a film not get even close to the same level is a bit insulting.
