August 23rd, 1941: After its historic charge through Belorussia, reality caught up with Army Group Center. It had reached the limits of its supply lines and stood with both flanks exposed. Accordingly, OKH ordered it to halt its drive on Moscow and to relocate its precious panzer groups north and south. Far from beaten, the Red Army partially recovers, reorganizes, and goes on the offensive towards Smolensk. Now, Army Group Center must hold its ground while Guderian takes his panzer group south for a planned link-up with Army Group South.
