How Yuzo Koshiro's music didn't instantly stand out to me I can't imagine. I know some people like the Sonic the Hedgehog OST, but for my tastes, this is the best soundtrack on the Sega Genesis, right here. In the video, I was only lukewarm, but now I have learned to appreciate this game. Keep an eye on my blog mackerelphones.com for some commentary on Streets of Rage, in a few months, probably.

This was my first time playing a retro brawler, rather than merely seeing one. I am enchanted.

I have since played this game like a dozen times, and I have yet to reach the ending. If only we weren't in quarantine, I could do it co-op. With a second set of fists, I would absolutely have reached the ending by now. I know some people can play through a game like this and reliably reach the ending, but not me. Maybe if I conceded defeat and set the difficulty to easy.
