UPDATED: NEW GASBAG TAMING GUIDE - AFTER PTERANODON NERF
28Avast Mateys, This is Seerower and Welcome back. After Patch 286.103 a few things changed how we tame on ark extinction.
Today I’m showing you my updated taming guide on the GASBAG in Ark Extinction.

Before the Patch 286.103 you could use a Pteranodon to pick and safely drop the gasbag into a trap. After the patch only, a Quetzal can pick up and carry a GASBAG.
The GASBAG is an herbivore and the best taming food is advance vegetables but I use mainly mejos.
The Gasbag Is primarily used as a utility dino and tasked to move large amount of cargo over obstacles –
PVP TIP!!
One other use for this ability is to launch the gasbag as distracting target for turrets while raiding a BASE
LOCATION:
All over the map but mostly concentrated in the south west of the map, condensed around the sulfur pits.
You don't need a saddle to ride a gasbag.
The gasbag saddle is unlocked at level 43
150 × Chitin or Keratin
185 × Fiber
350 × Hide
The Saddle located on its rear end is for a passenger.
The best method I found trapping the gasbag is to push it into the Sanctuary city outer walls.
This is done my attacking the gasbag so it jumps and flies towards the city. Make sure the gasbag is between you and the city, it will tend to flee in the opposite direction from its attacker.
When you reach the outer perimeter walls, its easy to get the gasbag stuck in the trees and overhang of the perimeter walls.
Once the gasbag is down, make sure to build structures around it for protection as it takes quite a long time to tame using mejos.
Primary attack Left click is utterly useless.
PRESS AND HOLD Right mouse or Secondary Attack which Activates the inhale, using stamina as it fills the bar on the bottom left.
Pressing the C Key activates Exhale pushing and damaging enemies or players directly in front of the gasbag – This will drain all the filled air
Movement: HOW TO FLY
Press and hold right click to fill the gasbag, look in the direction you want to move then Press the space or jump button. You will pop off into the air, in that direction.
If you Turn your mouse view will slowly rotate the gasbag’s body in the new direction you are facing while it’s still in the air. Press the jump button again and you will use more air to push you in the new direction.
By Pressing any of the directional keys you will also change your direction while consume more air
When you run out of air and the gasbag falls to the ground, you will not take any more fall damage like before (this might change in the future)
I really believe this is one of the most unique critters we have been given in the new ark DLC –
I LOVE!!! PS it’s the only dino that closes its eyes when tranqed.
