USA Racer (UK PAL PlayStation 1 Version) Gameplay
7Once again, here is USA Racer, which is the same thing as Police Chase for the PC, which I remember playing when I was little, except it uses a different title. This is the PlayStation 1 version, which, just like the PlayStation 2 version, was oddly released only in PAL format in Europe, so I imported it all the way from the United Kingdom via Amazon UK last year. You'd think it would have had a North American NTSC release since it's all about the United States in the first place. The back cover of this version says 2002 but inside the manual and on the disc's artwork, the copyright year reads 2001 instead, so it's actually hard to tell when it was really first released in Europe.
It is a stripped down console version with low quality graphics, 3D models, etc. and it lacks a lot of the characters' voice clips as well as the Houston, New Orleans, and Yellowstone locations. However, it's actually worth obtaining as a collector's item since it features some content that is not in the PC and PlayStation 2 versions, such as traffic reports on the fictional radio stations featured in this version.
Just like what I did in the PlayStation 2 version, I had fun in all the single player modes. Unfortunately, during the recording of this video, when my ClonerAlliance HDML-Cloner Box Pro capture card was in use, footage was automatically split into separate video files, which caused the audio at the end of each file to remain silent for only one second, so I cut out the parts where the audio is muted. Ah well, not a major loss, just single visual frames had to be removed in the process, but this gameplay video looks very decent otherwise. If anyone know of a way of preventing it from happen again, please comment below. Anyway, this version of this game is worth playing, so if you have a way of playing PAL PS1 games, I would recommend it! Enjoy!
