Using Repeated Themes and Reinterpretations to Practice Portrait Painting
This video is about reinterpreting and creating new versions of previous portraits as a way to practice painting. I often follow this path when I have something in mind I wanted to accomplish and wasn't completely satisfied with, or a portrait emphasizes something in particular that I want to practice more. I like this concept of attempting a new take on something I've done already. The painting featured in this video is actually the third version of this piece that I've done, which all centered on trying to create a natural sitting posture and back curve in profile view.
