Using VR as a Tool for Peace Building | VR NOW Con & Awards 2017
At NowHere – an immersive storytelling studio for social impact – Gayatri and her colleagues are asking a bold question: Can we use VR for peace building among conflict-affected societies. Can the technology promote reconciliation between regions, countries or states that have little or no contact with each other due to conflict? Their current project – “Peace VR”, an initiative of the Georgian non-profit ELVA – is supported by the joint program of EU and UNDP (COBERM). It has brought together young artists and journalists from the conflict affected areas of South Caucasus to create and share virtual experiences with one another. One of the participants is Takaka Abramia. Together with Gayatri Parameswaran, the Georgian designer talks about the intricate political situation in her homeland and showcase how she wants to build bridges with her 360 video.
