Valheim - Snapshot - Finding the Middle of the Octagon - Foundation Stones & Moving Crafting Benches
The continuing adventures in the Valheim world we've have been running since Hearth and Home was released. All vanilla, no mods, survivor mode.
This is another building & rebuilding video. There is no combat at all. Turns out, the stair wasn't in the right spot, and I've got to find the middle. Recording was made during patch 0.219.16.
(Happy New Year!)
So, the stair wasn't in the right spot. I planted a tree up top and had to cut it down, but now I've got to set it right and find the middle of the new octagon base of my lighthouse tower.
First things first, I've got to finish the shape of the tower foundations. Once I've got the gaps closed off, I use the center point to make a beam towards the middle.
I've been repeating the pattern of a 2x1 walls stacked, 4x2 wall, 1x2 tower, 4x2 wall, and 2x1 walls stacked. It gives me an odd number for the outside, which I'm sure will get me in trouble later, but having an even 1m for the middle is nice so far, now that I'm actually paying attention to it.
With the stone beams in place, I needed to move my crafting benches to inside of the pie wedges. I'll dig them lower down later, but for now I just need them out of the way for alignment.
I was using wood beams to line up, but switching to core wood allowed me to find the middle a bit quicker. With 4m beams on each end I ended up with about a 1m gap in the middle. The perfect spot to plant a tree later and raise it up.
We'll see though, this is a big work in progress and the tree down the center might be an error. I'll test it and see, but I'll need so much more flametal for the structure that I have planned...
This clip is from day 2213 and will be included in an upcoming video.
