Valheim - Snapshot - Torch Filling Tour - Using One Hundred Resin Around the Village
The continuing adventures in the Valheim world we've have been running since Hearth and Home was released. All vanilla, no mods, survivor mode.
This is a walking tour video of the Village as I fill some of the torches around town. There is no combat, zero. Just walking, filling torches, and showing off some of the buildings that I haven't featured many times before. Recording was made during patch 0.219.16.
I was at my base and trying to organize my chests and realized that I had way too much resin. I decided to run around the Village, filling as many torches as I could find.
The turned into a mini-tour, so I thought that I would share since that has been a comment in the past.
I start by running past Foofoo's house and towards the smelting hall. We call this the Smithy when we play, and it has a few portals up top as well as the kiln.
Outside of that building is the first community kitchen. It was important that the Suntower was visible from this spot, since it is the heart of the town and central spot between a few buildings.
Next was the Pavilion, which I've highlighted before. It is our main community storage and crafting hall. All of the tables are there with a hidden area under for upgrade stations. Also underground at the boss alter portals and a treasure vault for fun.
I then ran past Ras' second house and past the first community house. This was the first real building on the site and then people made individual houses around the area.
A little ways down the hill, there is a stone and iron wall that has been picked over a bit. I had intended to carry this wall around the Village, but I got distracted with other things and needed to harvest the iron. I'll get back to it... one day... but for now it has a lot of torches.
The front entries of the dock have a few as well, and a stair that badly needs to be fixed. There is just a lot wrong with it that needs to be corrected and I need to spend a few days thinking about it in game, messing with the design.
After the bad stair, I had to repair my dance hall before running through a funny bit where the shield bubble doesn't protect. I'll have to fix that eventually...
I ran out towards the eventual lighthouse building site. I'll have to think about how I want to make that structure, I know I want it to be as tall as I can...
There were a few original assets that came with the world generation around the dock, and I've tried to keep them if I can. One has a shield generator in it now by the edge of the water. There other was extended, hollowed out and given stone floors to act as a side entry to the dock.
The last few bits of resin went to the torches outside the Suntower. This is my vertical sundial that keep tract of the time. The face of the tower is pointed south which allows the shadow to cast correctly. The gnomon is made of a couple of pieces of core wood with a wolf head on it. The shadow cast is visible in the center of town. It was a lot of fun to build, but that happened before I started streaming and then recording my progress.
That's all for now, it has been a quiet few days in the Village, no events yet... but I'll have to start building around town and then they'll come for sure.
This clip is from day 2194 and will be included in an upcoming video.
