Valorant Team Disqualified for CHEATING? ("Evidence" clip + 50% speed)
210In a recent VALORANT tournament held by the Pittsburgh Knights, the team Built By Gamers (BBG) was disqualified by the tournament organizers due to suspected cheating. The evidence for the ban was a suspicious clip by one of BBG’s players, ‘Critical’ during a match against Ninja’s team called Time in. Let’s take a look at the evidence.
James O’Conner, the head of Knights said that he made the decision to DQ BBG due to the clip. He said on Twitter:
“After reviewing the clips I made the final call to DQ the team. With the tournament continuing tomorrow and us putting competitive integrity first, we suggested BBG decline to play and they agreed. Riot is currently reviewing his 4th cheating accusation in the past few months.”
So right off the bat, you can see that this was not a well thought-out decision from James and the admins. This one clip, as shady as some may say, is just not enough evidence to Disqualify an entire team. There are so many clips like this in the pro scenes of CS, Overwatch, and other Shooters. We’ve seen these accusations time and time again, but matters like this should be handled by Riot or Valve if we’re talking about GO. It is not the place of the admin or the tournament head to ban teams or players based on little evidence like a shady clip or two. I’m not saying that there aren’t cheaters in the pro scene of these games but there needs to be real, substantial evidence. Undeniable and tangible evidence before making such a rash move.
Since the posting of the video, BBG have been reinstated in the tournament if they choose to play. O’conner retracted the ban after seeing the anticheat report from a twitter account by the name of ‘Anticheat-Police department’. What makes this laughable is that this account is not an official source and has no affiliation with Riot, Valve, or, Blizzard. So as quickly as the TO’s banned this team with little solid evidence they immediately took it back after seeing the overwhelming backlash from the fans and players alike.
Some went as far as to point towards Ninja and the potential viewership he could bring, as banning BBG would mean that Ninjas team would stay in the tournament. Some people are speculating that this may have played a factor in BBG’s disqualification in the tournament. This of course is a bold claim just like the initial clip we saw earlier.
