One of the biggest minecraft speedrun/twitch Dream has released a jarring apology and explanation of his cheating allegations. To give some context, the popular minecraft streamer has been underfire for many months with many accusations claiming that he had been cheating. The cheating allegations came about when people noticed that Dream’s ender pearl drop rate was astronomically high and was extremely unlikely without the help of a cheat or mod. Pearls are items that are crucial to completing a minecraft speedrun and have a low chance of dropping from NPCs to begin with. Many people were skeptical of Dream’s pearl drop rate, which was much higher than normal. The long back and forth brawl between Dream and the mods/community included harvard astrophysistis, 10 page dissertations, and long reports combating each others points with statistics and proof (in quotes). During this time there was much animosity between Dream, the community, and speedrunning mods, calling the investigation petty and not true. Dream cheats dream cheated dream cheater

Well as of this morning, the popular streamer released a long explanation as of now clearing up the situation. After chronicling the entire ordeal the truth was revealed. Dream stated this:

“ After considering this, I ended up finding out that I HAD actually been using a disallowed modification during ~6 of my live streams on Twitch. At the time we were just starting to record videos on 1.16 and we had just hired a developer to help with coding mods for videos because me and George had no experience with mods only plugins. One of the mods that they were working on was an overall recording mod, that I have used in every video (with updates and improvements) since around the speedrun controversy.” He goes on to say. “I was 99% sure that I didn’t even have the recording mod on. Which was backed up by the fabric api logs saying that only the fabric api was loaded (although I found out later it only lists things that explicitly ask to be listed which I had no idea) this was mentioned in my response video.” This was a shocking realization, after, Dream goes onto describe feeling guilty about the situation and how he responded to the accusations and the mods stating.

“I’m not really sure what Im expecting out of all of this, but I just felt like I had a huge weight on my shoulder and I want to get it off...I wish that I could go back and do things differently because it was some of the worst weeks of my life and still impacts me every day.” At this time many people have had mixed reaction, while many people are disappointed by the response citing how Dream behaved all that time. Let me know in the comments what you think of the situation, thank you so much for watching, we’re trying to get back into making more videos and content, thanks for the support and have a wonderful day!
