INTRODUCTION:
Imelda has completely average base stats without a single one above baseline, a weak character passive without infinite scaling (caps out at +30% exp), and what many people say is the weakest overall starting weapon. So I beat Death (3 Deaths at once technically) without using the overpowered weapon that is designed to cut through Death's massive hp pool: The Infinite Corridor. Without the power of The Infinite Corridor constantly halving Death's massive hp pool, you have to beat him with your own DPS, but an additional Death spawns every 60s until you win or die. It's a long run of course, so feel free to skip to the end to just watch the fight and see the build.

THE BUILD:
The core of my strategy is stacking stats from Reviving on purpose with the Awake Arcana, then building synergy from that. I immediately pick up the Armor item: as both provide significant boosts to total Armor. I then specifically pick a series of Weapons that are boosted by the Divine Bloodline Arcana, which adds flat base damage based on Armor. I make sure I can get that as my second Arcana. Finally, I take the Sarabande of Healing Arcana to double my healing and ensure that I can tank multiple Deaths at once. As a bonus, this build has 3 stacking sources of "retaliation" damage on contact which I get to abuse to bonk enemies to death near the end of the run.
