We caught up with developer Matt Hergaarden outside the Holland Pavillion at Gamescom to learn more about World War I shooter Verdun and its development.

"Verdun is the first World War I shooter that's really commercially available. It's really an interesting theme, cause it's kind of a forgotten war. Due to World War II it got kind of overshadowed. It's practically a non-existant game [genre]."

Verdun is currently in Early Access on Steam, but the full release is plan sometime soon.
