To complete the game and get the princes make sure you use characters abilities that will help you survive.
My favourites are Thief escape any hit instantly and Ranger infinite jump. The Paladin is also good for surviving.
If you are on your last life and know you will lose the pause and quit and I think this doesn't end the game.
For masks you should check out the requirements. 10 of the masks should be gold for each area type and complete a level with each character. The other 10 will have save the end princess, 2 minute game, 25 jumps, 25 double jumps. You should aim for some of the not get heroes/ 150% gold/ no enemies/ no getting hit early on when on the beginning levels.
