I figured out that where you drop your gun is very important when setting up the sky jump skip. The difference with this method, as compared to the others, is that as soon as you press "9" you flick to the far left of the railing so that you can get your gun to land in a specific spot (0:35). This drastically increases the consistency of the skip and makes it more viable in Any%.

Those times that I failed the skip were mostly down to me not setting it up well enough. In theory, this method is 100% consistent if you're able to master it.
