Victory Heat Rally (Demo)
62Victory Heat Rally Demo downloaded from Steam. I'd seen a few videos of this over on Twitter, so when I found out there was a Steam demo, I was keen to give it a try. This is my first ever try of the game in the video (there was a quick tutorial thing you could do that I completed off camera).
I'm a big fan of the retro style visuals here and the blisteringly fast pace they move at. The game looks like a bit of a cross between Power Drift and F-Zero X on amphetamines, with very Mario Kart-esque drift/boost handling. The controls feel very sharp and responsive.
I'm loving the music too. I did a bit of a double take right at the start when the announcer chick was speaking, as I immediately recognised the music in the background as coming from an old rave tune on a Happy Hardcore CD I used to own back in the day (in fact, which I still do own). Bizarre, a 2022 racer was the last place I expected to hear some 90's hardcore.
I was pleasantly surprised here by just how much demo you get. I was expecting one or two levels, not an entire cup. It starts getting proper tricky at the end, so I haven't actually finished it yet.
