Previous times our family has visited Vietnam, they would pitch in money to buy rice to our neighborhood. We then started donating money to people in old folk homes, orphanage, and homeless shelters.

This year we opened it up to all of our friends and asked if anyone would like to donate. My family (Canada) got nearly $1000 CAD in donations. Our family in New Zealand got about 700 NZD in donations.

In previous years we gave people in the old folks home/orphanage/homeless shelter 50,000 VND. Since we got a lot of donations this time we gave them each 100,000 VND.

In previous years we donated 5kg bags to families in our neighborhood but since we got a lot more money to work with this time around we bumped it up to 10kg per bag. So we gave away 800kg of rice to our neighborhood and more families dropped by so we ordered another 300kg.

We also bought 100kg bags of rice to be donated to the hospital, soup kitchen, and disability centre.

We would love to thank everyone that donated, family, friends, and even friends of friends. This started as a small family project and it is getting bigger every time we do it and we love it.
