Is Autofire cheating? Or is it a legitimate means to protect ourselves from hurt fingers and dastardly game design. The answer is, it depends. I think this is a game however where it's probably cheating, but everyone does it.
This is Vimana, a game from Toaplan in 1991 when they were starting to waver slightly. There would be a few more classic games to come but with the mediocrity of this title, underpinned by the simplificity of using autofire, meant that the future was in question.
But this is an important game to cover just to show the actual power of autofire and how it has the possibility to render difficult games simple, and a concept which was eventually embraced by the likes of Cave and just incorporated as a rapid fire button.
Still, back on the list. Next time it should probably be a bit harder to show the progress. Hmm....
