Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown (PS4) - for the first time
Not counting a couple of hours yesterday in training :). Versus people legit first time ever. Kinda sad if you think about it hah. I do have solo experience with VF1, 2, 3, 4 Evo. Unfortunately never played vs somebody else. Most of all I spent time on VF4 Evo on PS2. Trying to get the tutorials with Akira and having a lot of trouble on the pad haha. This sort of hurts still even now that my PS3 stick doesn't get recognized in VF5 US as well. So DS4 was used. A lot of the moves and techniques benefit an arcade stick in my opinion.
So I did play Akira and showed some of his stuff (which later I found there was more off :(). I jumped into rank and got some wins and some losses over all fun 1st day. In terms of lag - about 20% of my games had one and some were nasty not gonna lie, ther others were fine.
After that I did show up all the Blaze moves and - my god the throws of this guy, the beauty of the animations and the pure number of variants :D! A shit ton of moves in general. Even if game is 15 years old (not counting the remastered/remade visuals), it still holds out.
Plus VF5 and the series in general is one of the most simple yet hard to master games. Complicated as F if you allow me to say, especially if you start digging deep, but easy to jump into.
The sweet remaster or remake that SEGA did is nice and revitalized the grand daddy of the 3D fighting games. There is stuff to improve or be added - a lot of lacking options and configurations for visual or to resize the screen, birghtness and contrast. Option to change R3 to not be the button to reset you damn training options :(. Legacy support pls! Even some of the visuals can be touched and improved upon.
The thing is, you gonna enjoy the game cause it's a classic, it's an oldie from another time where developers were putting alot of love and soul into making those. It's tough one to learn and master but simple to enjoy or even mash :). Great variety of colourfull characters with different playstyles and timeless gameplay. It's free on PSN if you have PS+ for the next 2 months as well. Give it a go. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/freebiebg
