No Damage Run played with no savestates.

Hello everyone! How are you? I hope you are all well and with good health 😃.

My name is Velpa, and I am dedicated to completing retro videogames (from the first to the fourth generation) in No Damage conditions and without savestates, and this time I bring you Virtual Bart for the Sega Genesis, a game that we will break to its very essence in order to complete it without receiving a single hit. Are you ready?

🎮🎮🎮 WHAT DOES "WITHOUT SAVESTATES" MEAN? 🎮🎮🎮

It means that in case I receive a hit anywhere in the game, I do not return to the beginning of the level or the section in which I am, but to the beginning of the game. This condition greatly increases the difficulty of the game, but also adds a touch of magic and adrenaline to it that makes the experience very enjoyable.

🎮🎮🎮 MY STYLE WHEN DOING NO DAMAGE RUNS 🎮🎮🎮

Personally, I love a No Damage Run that is full of style and aggressiveness. With style, I mean things like joking with enemies/bosses (maybe something like trying different combos that might do less damage and make the fight longer, and maybe involves a higher risk, but is funny and entertaining to watch), and with aggressiveness, I mean things like getting myself into positions where it's very easy for me to take damage (maybe something like fighting in the middle of the room instead of cornering myself and making use of the fact that enemies can't attack past a certain point, what is more technically known as the player being out of bounds for the enemy range of attack). I only play safe mostly when it's absolutely necessary (to avoid bad RNG/randomness near the end of a run, for example). So if you love these qualities as much as I do, then it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll have a lot of fun watching this run and the other ones that I have uploaded to my channel! 😊 .

I am not sure if I mentioned it in the commentary? But the trick at the beginning of the game (which you can see in the original, non-edited version) can only be done in Bizhawk. This is because the H/V counter which the game's code uses for the roulette's RNG is deterministic in emulators (for the most part), not in consoles. But since each emulator handles the H/V counter emulation differently, this is why you wouldn't be able to reproduce it in other emulators either.
