Virtual IoT | Developing IoT-enabled Distributed Real-time Control Apps with Eclipse 4diac
Industry 4.0 requires more interconnected, decentralized, and autonomous control entities seamless interacting with each other and the cloud. However, current systems are either limited in their adaptability or only adaptable to new requirements with high effort. Eclipse 4diac utilizes the industrial modeling language defined in the IEC 61499 standard to provide an environment allowing to develop distributed real-time control solutions fulfilling the demands of Industry 4.0 and at the same time reducing the development effort for control engineer.
This session will give a short overview on the modeling language IEC 61499. With 4diac-ide a small control application for a machine unit is developed and distributed on two different industrial control devices (i.e., PLCs). In a second step the application is enhanced to provide data via MQTT and receive control commands via OPC UA, showing how IoT communication can seamlessly integrated with real-time control applications in the 4diac environment.
