History
Volantia, originally called Sky Islands, was conceived by the team behind Desktop Dungeons, three indies from South Africa. The team, who split early on in the game’s development, were thrilled to find out after a year of leaving game to rest that they were accepted to Stugan in 2017 and had an opportunity to continue to work on it.
Volantia flourished at Stugan in summer 2017, fueled by the beautiful greenery and landscape of the Sweedish woods where the program took place. Inspired by the wilderness around them, the team wanted to create a game that evoked zen-like feelings and incorporated the beauty of nature. This culminated in Volantia, which incorporates many natural elements to create a picturesque world while seeking to cultivate a feeling of zen for players.
After Stugan, the team secured some small-scale funding from Humble, which allowed them to further development on the game and bring in talented collaborators. Now, the game is heading towards a full- scale PC/Mac launch in the spring of 2018!
