Vs Jaymas | Roll for Initiative - Episode 23
15After rescuing Wolfpine from the tyrannical rule of Ex-Lord Duke Sebastian Grayson the Third Esquire, the party were met with another immediate crisis. Skylert's old foe The Mutilator and another leading threat were found tampering with one of the gates to Shadowfell, using it to call souls of the dead to be used in building the armies of Orcus and Vecna to overthrow the Raven Queen.
After a hard-fought victory, the Mutilator was defeated, for now, and the gate was permanently sealed to avoid any further tampering. During a moment of rest, however, Jaymas appeared to make good on his end of the deal. Using his Bardic skills, he sang to the party a tale that revealed a bit more of what was going on.
The Mutilator and Striking Shadow of the Umbra Clan had indeed joined forces and are using the Shadowfell gates to send souls of the dead to increase their armies. However, the whole scheme was conducted by Lord Baikas, the mysterious figure they had met once before in Castle Croix and the one responsible for injecting Philimena as Queen.
However, it was also revealed that Lord Baikas had other plans and instead didn't want to control Shadowfell or the world, but to destroy it using the power of Tharizdun: The Chained One. It is still unclear as to why, as well as it still being a mystery as to the actions of Raven and the Kraken, but Jaymas ended his song having fulfilled his end of the bargain, requesting Kayli return to him.
After a moment of trickery, Kayli attacked Jaymas, but all was for naught as he trapped the both of them inside a Forcecage and gained the upper hand after drinking a potion that enhanced his strength. With Kayli knocked out, she was unable to resist any further as Jaymas was able to take her unopposed.
However, due to their scuffle, a note was knocked loose from Jaymas unawares, revealing his next plan as well as where he'd be taking Kayli: A ship he chartered to the south of them with the intent of leaving as soon as possible.
The party made their way to Squall's End and met with Captain Ryudo and Vhyx, who seemed no worse for wear after her defeat against the Mutilator earlier, if not really annoyed.
The team made their way towards the Abyssal Pirate Ship: The Tidebringer, to prepare for their rescue mission.
